Hello!

As some of you were afraid of, here's my contribution: A list of songs in which I find a clear influence of the best band in Sheffield (and the world). I mean, a STRONG influence. Someone else is encouraged to add any?:

Say Hello, Wave Goodbye by Soft Cell is Pulp by numbers, both lyrically and musically even if Marc Almond sounds nothing like Jarvis.

It came first, when Pulp were still writing amateur schlock. Respect on Almond and Ball!

Agreed.  I haven't followed Marc Almond particularly closely down the years, but every time I come across something he has done, I am very impressed.  Saw him at Barbican a few years ago giving a superb rendition of Bowie's London Boys which was better than the original.  One of the most underrated performers out there.

I have always thought that the character in "Bedsitter" by Soft Cell could have easily appeared in several Pulp songs i.e. "Party Hard", "TV Movie", "Sunrise", "Seconds".

Inspiral Carpets are another interesting one. I can't think of a song that sounds 100% Pulp but some of the keyboards here and there are similar to the "Intro"/"His 'n' Hers" era.
