Definitely a formative experience for me, and one of the key influences* on my as yet unpublished Sheffield novel.

Possibly the most Pulp moment comes when Glen is introduced before his karaoke performance. "What do you do?" asks the compère. "I'm a thief," says Glen.

If you're interested in this kind of thing then this BBC documentary from 1974 is worth a watch for a feel of when Jarvis was 11. I do think that the opening title card is very Pulp.

This can't be a true documentary, can it? If so, it deserves total criterion reissue treatment forever. If not, is this not the prototype for the two decades of mockumentary that followed?
