Was wondering if they would get a nod. There's a good chance they'll win. More wasn't nominated for album of the year but the Glasto secret appearance should give them a strong chance...

I wonder if they'll perform....30 years since Brits '96, surely they'll be asked...

My gut feeling is that Pulp will win this. I didn't have that feeling about the Mercury Prize.

Amongst a strong group of contenders they are the best all rounders (or best group as this category is called). Comeback band, critically and commercially acclaimed new album, five star Glastonbury performance, outstanding tour, and other projects such as the Tiny Desk appearance.

Spot on Barcroft. I think this as well. Its like at the Oscars for Best Actor. They don't tend to give it to a newbie - sometimes its more for a body of work and to say youve been awesome for a really long time. This is my half-baked theory anyway.

I think that they will win it. There are quite a few opportunities for the media here to comment on the fact that they (surprisingly) went away empty-handed 30 years ago and of course, they can look back on the Michael Jackson incident...

They'll be told in advance if they've won, I guess, so they can record an awkward acceptance speech.

Think I'll be at the ceremony, through work. Wasn't too bothered about attending but obviously a Pulp appearance/win, would make it an easier decision.

Jack Whitehall, hosting again, will almost certainly have a joke about Jarvis/Jackson.

Sadly they were never going to win, the BRITs is all about economic clout e.g. giving Noel Gallagher 'Songwriter of the Year' cos Oasis had a money-spinning tour last summer.

Yeah, I was in attendance and there weren't many whoops for Pulp when they were announced as a nomination. To be honest, the level of interest in the arena towards commercial acts versus guitar bands/alternative acts was pretty marked. It's generally geared towards popular youth culture , what's played the most on radio and shared via YouTube, TikTok and discussed on social media. In that context, the well-received comeback of a heritage quirky artpop act who were huge for a year three decades ago was going to be difficult to cut through.

Half the audience, if not more, would never have heard of Pulp. Even Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, The Last Dinner Party are vying for attention with pop acts and there's no real equivalent platform to promote them compared to the success of the print indie press a generation to two ago.

I think Wolf Alice are a decent band but their songwriting is pretty safe and it feels that their singer Ellie's transition into a vocal powerhouse with her physical presence and looks pushed front is an acknowledgement by their label that if they are to have any commercial longevity, this is necessary.

Even he said it was kinda ridiculous. He went for the free meal and free booze. The tour was profitable, but only by a small margin

There isn't much exposure for new indie/alternative. Radio X is more like Radio Gold X and 6 music isn't on FM which seriously restricts the audience.  No Glastonbury this year and few festivals catering to the indie/alternative audience.

Wolf Alice are a very good live act as are Last Dinner Party, but I am a little surprised they are playing Finsbury Park this summer as I don't think they have a big enough fan base to sell out.  I got £10 tickets for Wolf Alice at O2 and a largish section was curtained off.  Anyway if I am around in July I suspect there will be cheap tickets available.
