Another pop up but this time in Sheffield.

Good to take it back to the source.

Similar to what they did for Wythenshawe, I assume.

What was the one in Wythenshawe like?

Barcroft

Manchester was old Pulp posters and photos everywhere, leading to a merch store which included signed vinyls etc.

They'd also got Pulp window vinyls, bar matt's, beers mats, plus the usual cardboard cutouts etc.

By night there was Pulp karaoke 🎤.

HoltbyCity

I was in the Hallamshire Hotel the other night watching a band called T Is For Thomas Band.  Pulp connections to TIFTB - 1) Singer Tom Hogg played in Seafruit with Alan Smyth, producer of Separations. 2) Bassist Charley McKee plays in the Everly Pregnant Brothers with Nick Banks

Anyway, does anyone know how different it is since it reopened last year, compared to its original 1980s heyday?  Has it been reconfigured, or is the stage etc. roughly in the same place?

Honestly, I haven't been upstairs since the mid 90's so I don't imnediately know. The pub as it is now is pretty gentrified compared to the rather dirty boozer I knew in the 90's. Anyway, here's an interesting article from the Sheffield Tribune with some nice pics.

Pulp announce one-off hometown pop up at Hallamshire Hotel in Sheffield on 30 October to celebrate their induction into the city's Walk Of Fame

Pop Up Pub Timings:

12:00 - 13.00 Pulp Meet & Greet w/ Candida & Nick (strictly 1 hour)
12:00 - 20:00 Pop Up Shop
17:30 - 19:30 - Pulp Quiz, Raffle & Fancy Dress Competition
20:00 - 22:30 - Pulp Karaoke

QuoteJarvis is hoping his hometown will join in the celebrations:

"People of Sheffield - do you know where the Town Hall is?

People of Sheffield - do you know what time it is?

It is time to have fun.

On Friday the 30th of October 2026 at 2pm PULP are being inducted into the Sheffield Walk of Fame. You can come & watch.

Then, if you walk up West Street to the Hallamshire Hotel (site of PULP's first ever concert in a pub in Sheffield in (!) August 1980), you will be able to visit the PULP POP-UP PUB.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness PULP being honoured in their home-town AND celebrate afterwards in the venue that they have played at the most number of times during their 46 year career.

& it's (nearly) Halloween.

What are you waiting for?

Put the Party of the Year in your diary right now."

Can't believe Russell was there today!

Anyone know who some of the other older members were?

Apart from Havenhand and Genn, I spotted -

Saskia Cocker
Wayne Furniss
David Hinkler
Garry 'Beefy Garry O' Wilson
Tim Allcard
Michael Paramore
Magnus Doyle

There must have been a few more I didn't clock because there were 17 past and present in total. Quite a day!

Thanks Mark! Wow, amazing really. There was me wondering if Jarvis would be there. Never would have expected some of those names. Nearly dropped my phone in shock when I first saw Russell chatting to Candida. He looked like he'd been dragged there under duress, bless him!

Yeah he was only there briefly, didn't make it to any of the stuff afterwards. Someone told me later that he's suffering a bit with his back, so that could be why.

Barcroft

How lovely that so many former band members attended.

The pub doesn't looks as busy as the Manchester one, maybe due to when the clips I saw, were taken?

Sturdy

Apparently the queue early on for the meet + greet was crazy, but when we went over later in the afternoon we just walked in. Had some lovely chats with various ex members, hadn't seen some of them since I did the book. Nick's brother Richard too. Great day all round.

liltman

The queue was indeed crazy early on - we were stood for nearly an hour and a half and sadly missed Candida and Nick, but the induction more than made up for it!

Bollocks. Annoyed I couldn't make it.

Aw, I love that this happened and all the various members were there and recognised. Everyone played their part. I love that about the Pulp story. I was so happy to see Russell. Always my favourite! Glad to hear them all say a few words. I saw a clip of Mark talking pop up in my Facebook. Love Candida's dress and the colour. She looks so fab. Love her style.
Richly deserved Pulp. To someone who has never been to Sheffield I feel like I know it through your back catalogue and interviews. It's the place that made you for better or worse. Great to be recognised in yer hometown. Congrats to all of you.

This was such a special and momentous day. Met up with Ian, Sturdy and Eamonn at the town hall. Was quite funny when approaching the venue, to hear "oreet Scott" - to turn around and it was Nick calling me over.

To see everyone embracing the celebrations, and then to listen to some funny stories especially from Tim Alcard.... it was a great moment. Bucket list stuff.

Had a few drinks with Nick, Steven Havenhand, quick natter with Hawley and Candida, then train home.

Special doesn't cut it.

nautjordan

So cool to see footage of this with all the old members and even Russell!

What an immense full circle moment for the band, so glad that they are currently active to see this as well.
