Oh, wow! Have always hoped Pulp would get one of these ultimate music guides that Uncut/Mojo put together (usually for the usual legends, multiple times!).

It should be an easy find in a bricks n mortar shop. TG Jones on the high street or WH Smiths at a train station maybe even some larger supermarkets.

Yeah, the cover isn't the greatest, is it?!

Also, it's a shame they aren't bothered with promotion too much as photos from that one particular shoot seem to be recycled a lot this year. The Guardian one was far better imo.

Bought my cooy and it's a bit of a strange hybrid beast. Imagine a music mag about Pulp but seemingly curated by Pulp. I haven't done much but browse through but it looks like some interesting stuff in there. However, if you're not a fan of Scott, Spacemen 3 or the VU it might be slim pickings!

The poster is great - all the individual DC cut-out scenes. I was hoping the online shop would start selling the posters shown at the Rio Cinema DC30 playback. The paper quality of this Uncut one isn't great but still, the Different Class outtakes look so good, collected together and might be worth framing. Interesting 'shape' too, it's long and portrait rather than wide/landscape which might have been more expected.

Noticed that the More sleeve on the reverse actually says "More?". Are Pulp teasing and trolling us... ?

The mag looks great, just had a quick scan through. I was happy to see my local train station had it in the newspaper and magazines rack. I got mine at WHS Smith at Heathrow, welcome reading material for me flight.

 I know the official story is "no more songs left from More sessions". but what if they record more More songs. Like 22, and a More Sequel is coming next year ?

There is one song left from the sessions. Just needs to be finished.

I rarely believe the official story published by bands anymore, as we know it's rarely true for any band. It could be, but also not. But there's always a storytelling in place which is almost always not reality. 

I agree though, a more guitar based album would be nice though. Somewhere heavier maybe.

 I loved that Different Class 30 poster too, so I nabbed a copy from ebay, which I'll get framed when the xmas rush is over. The same seller 'festival_tickets' has more copies; he says in the ad there will be wrinkles, but the one he sent me was perfect. It's about the same size as the More poster.

Its really rather nice reading what feels like a throwaway pop mag about Pulp that is new and on sale now. The Q&A articles, lists of favourite albums, even the grotty paper that could scarcely handle your fish and chips. Its pulp, isnt it? Pop, pulp, Pulp. For a fleeting moment, I looked at it through teenaged eyes.
 
 Though realising that the magazine was priced about the same, or maybe higher, than the albums on cassette made my eyes feel 40 again. Ive a test booked next week for my first pair of varifocals. Will still be sticking with thick NHS frames though, of course

Enjoyed reading this over Christmas. There were a few factual errors that only the types of us would tut-at but mixing-up Andrew McKinney with Rich Jones (I think it was) on one page was pretty poor.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Jarvis announced Pulp's return on Instagram/a book talk in summer 2022, July-ish, whereas this publication states a couple of times that it wasn't until the autumn.

I don't know if it's the norm to dedicate 20% or so of the content in this series to old Uncut articles from favourite artists chosen by the band but I didn't mind that. Quite enjoyed reading more on Scott Walker, The Velvets, Kraftwerk & Spacemen 3, learned something new about all three. The list of the group's favourite albums and singles also made interesting reading.

Although thy  magazine covers the seven Pulp LPs before More, I think they could have given a feature to Intro or at least the singles from it. Yes, it wasn't an official album but it was a crucial, creative period for the band - to some ears, Pulp's finest era.

I would also like to have read more quotes from the non-core Pulp players. Great to hear a bit from Emma and Andrew but there was nowt from Jason, Adam or Rich.

And the main thing missing for me was a track-by-track run-through of More by the band. Was hoping they would do that when the album came out, on Radio X with John Kennedy who's had this feature on new albums for years on the radio. It would have been fascinating to hear the genesis of each song, which ones were left-over from Jarv Is... and how they managed to successfully excavate Grown-Ups and Got To Have Love.

All in all though, pretty well done. Looks like Uncut only had resources for one main writer, Mark Beaumount, and he did a decent job. The poster an unexpected bonus, albeit on flimsy paper.

I'd love for Mojo or NME to do another of these Pulp specials in the future with more in-depth looks at all the albums and maybe some vintage interviews (although AcrylicAfts and PulpWiki are pretty good for that). Plenty of the big artists have multiple versions of these specials, Pulp have finally got one and that's great.

 Haven't read my copy yet, in fact still haven't read the November Uncut, or even I'm With Pulp... I have a quiet 6 weeks ahead of me to catch up.

But yes, the new Pulp members, and how it all worked for More is what I want to know more about. They all seem to play with other artists / groups, which I guess is the only way to earn a living as a musician now, but I wonder how much they feel a part of Pulp or is it just a gig? Will the next Pulp album feature this lineup or the Core4 and other musicians - will have to wait and see.

For Rich, I was interested in this video, where he elaborates a little on his involvement in the More writing process, and how his string arrangements could be adapted reactively in the moment and for the different sized live shows. So, turns out he isn't just scrolling social media.

Oh that's a superb video, thank you for finding that. I could listen to them talking technically about this stuff for hours. It's heartening to hear that they are not relying on pre-recorded backing tracks so that they can keep the songs alive. Those short clips of just the strings from Got to Have Love are lush.

Been really enjoying the albums and singles that shaped them. And Nick choosing Donald Fegan's solo album The Nightfly. We have that in common. I never thought Id see Steely Dan and Pulp mentioned on the same page. Though I think Jarvis said he doesnt like the Dan. Thats ok. He might come round.

For people in Canada, I found it at Indigo today!!

I haven?t seen UNCUT for a while and I thought they no longer carry it. Super excited to see the Pulp issue.Got My copy!!
