Is the summer's programming closing with 'End of the Road' festival giving anyone else the same vibes as Pulp sailing away into the sunset on a Coachella cruise back in 2012?

I'm trying to look at it from a slightly different angle by comparing 2025 and 2026 with 1995 and 1996, the new film being the equivalent of "FEELINGCALLEDLIVE". They may start playing new songs before the end of a tour then have a break and release a new single late next year...

Given what some members of the band have said in the press, it's slightly hard to imagine all this touring (because it is quite intensive) happening if more music were in the offing. If they play more music, then they'll likely end up having to tour it. The fact they're playing a hefty whack of shows this year — given that they've played Europe, North America, Latin America, twice over since reuniting in 2023 — to me implies that activity may be ceasing relatively soon.

I would love to be wrong, but there it is.

My thoughts are increasingly that this tour is the last  .

It's all starting to drop in to place.

Mark's suggestions of future events at his Manchester book talk / conversation have all come to fruition. Australia, countries they haven't played before, a single big UK gig. He didn't say they were splitting up, but he kind of alluded to the fact there were no plans after this tour.

Then there is the potential for an artistic ending at "End of the Road" Festival.

That the band said of End of the Road it will be a show "like no other".

A farewell for the masses in Wythenshawe Park... and on the same day they release their live album.

Sadly, yes. During the book talk in Madrid, Mark confirmed that there are no plans for next year and that they're all looking forward to spending time on other activities besides touring. He added, "Never say never," but...

More has sold just under 70k units in the UK between June 2025 and '26 - presumably now over 100k across the world. They and Rough Trade must be thrilled with that having recorded the album quickly and cheaply (compared to the Island days).

There's a lot of musicians in the band now, with varying creative impulses. Sounds like they had a blast making and touring More. Any future music is likely to wash its face financially - an audience of young and old happy to buy Pulp vinyl. Excellent relationship with Rough Trade. And if they want to tour sporadically, they likely can due to how well-received they continue to be live. They have a really good thing going on. They have the luxury of doing it at their own pace now.

It'd be a shame for it to stop while everyone is still healthy and happy.

Hi everyone. I agree. In fact, Mark said at the Madrid book signing that the band was in a really good place. He mentioned that they had been revisiting old material and that he would personally like to do something more. He added that he hoped the rest of the band felt the same way, although the reality was that they didn't have any concrete plans beyond the summer.
To me, that sounds encouraging rather than worrying.The band's situation is surely better than they could have imagined when they first reunited, in many ways: creatively, commercially, critically, and in terms of their relationship with both the audience and Rough Trade. I imagine it's also exciting for them to see more and more young people discovering their music.
They seem to be enjoying it, and I think the newer members of the band probably make things easier too. There's a fresh energy around the band that feels really positive.
My feeling is that we still have More Pulp to come.

Mark mentioned the possibility of farewell gigs in the UK in one of his talks so I wonder if there maybe some UK shows to come later this year. The Manchester gig promo states it is the only outdoor show in the north of England this year so some wiggle room. Last time there was the Sheffield Arena show (followed by the cruise) to sign off; although they seem to be a lot more popular this time around. Still surprised nothing at Brixton Academy this time (yet).

It's too late for that.  Shows being advertised now would be for spring 2027 at the earliest

Thanks for sharing. That answer sounds very definitive sadly (in terms of no more activity after End of the Road). In 2011 on the 4th July they announced the Brixton gigs on 31st Aug & 1st Sept so they have done shows at short notice before but does seem to be ruled out this time.
